It is summer time in Chicago!  Which means whether you’re a Chicago Local or Grub Globetrotter it is time to eat your way through Navy Pier with the best of our Classic Chicago bites.

As a Chicago visitor Navy Pier is a must.  The best way to experience it is by arriving with an empty stomach so you don’t miss a bite.  For our Chicago local’s making it down to the pier might not be top priority this summer.  However, it is a great team outing, family event, or celebratory event and an awesome excuse to eat great food and enjoy the waterfront view.

Giordano’s Pizza

Giordano’s is a must have when at Navy Pier.  You can’t come to Chicago and not get pizza!  Fun fact: The recipe for Giordano’s now-famous stuffed pizza is one that started over 200 years ago in a small northern Italian town near Torino, Italy.

America’s Dog is a family-owned restaurant that celebrates America’s passion for the Great American Road Trip and the Chicago-Style Hot Dog!  They are the epitome of Navy Pier: passion, family, and food.  Try the Chicago Style hot dog first and consider venturing out with a taste of the Milwaukee or Atlanta hot dog as well.  They have 8 different city themed hot dogs!

Brown Sugar Bakery

Brown Sugar Bakery was opened by Stephanie Hart in 2004.  From then on she has developed a strong fan base for her delicious sweets.  In 2013 she was awarded America’s Best Bakery on the Steve Harvey Show.  She bakes everything from cheesecake, cupcakes, to pies and cobblers.  Chicago Food Planet’s recommendation: the Famous Caramel Cake.

Tiny Tavern

Today's the day! Our Grand Opening! Come and get some cheese curds at Tiny Tavern!

For more than sixteen years, Tiny Tavern’s flagship location, Tiny Lounge has functioned as both a destination location and a neighborhood fixture. In 2016 they took their passion for delicious food to Navy Pier, so we can enjoy all their delightful dishes on the waterfront!

Chicago Food Planet and the Navy Pier are proud Chicago Ambassadors.  However, I would still have to recommend Tiny Tavern’s WISCONSIN Cheese Curds as my favorite bite.  They’ll blow you away!

Garret Popcorn

Garret Popcorn – you can’t leave Chicago without having tried the GarretMix aka the Chicago Mix.  Garret’s recipes were born out of a family competition and carried over from the Garrett’s Milwaukee home to their first Chicago shop in 1949.  Who can resist the sweetness of caramel corn and the savor of the cheddar cheese?

You might feel a bit overwhelmed by the challenge of eating all this in just one day.  As always, Chicago Food Planet has you covered!  We not only recommend all of these Chicago Classic Foods, we advocate for them.  Our Signature Navy Pier Food & History Tour is now live and covers all of your favorite foods in just 2 hours!

Not ready to explore Navy Pier quite yet?  Check out our recommendations on food and drink in the West Loop, then make your way to the pier later in the summer!
