Founded By: Old Jerusalem had been opened by a family member a few years prior, but once Ahmed got involved, he knew Old Jerusalem was the right place for him. He ended up buying the family member out and he’s been running the place ever since.

Fun Foodie Facts:

  • Ahmed Ali Awad, came here from Lebanon in order to obtain his Master’s Degree in Accounting from The University of Illinois – Chicago. But found his passion in this restaurant, though we are sure the accounting degree comes in handy here!
  • To make falafel, you start with chickpeas, soak them, clean them, ground them and mix them with parsley, onion and garlic.
  • Lebanese cuisine combines the sophistication and subtlety of European cuisine with the exotic ingredients of the Middle and Far East.
  • Bread is such a staple of the Lebanese diet, that some Arabic dialects refer to bread as “esh” – which means life.
